Dr. Hifzur Rahman

Designation : Ambassador of India to State of Libya

Dr. Hifzur Rahman, having over 25-year long diplomatic career, joined the Embassy of India in Tripoli on 05 January 2026 as Ambassador of India to the State of Libya. Prior to his current assignment, he served as India’s First Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Chad from May 2023 to December 2025; as Director (Latin American and Caribbean Division) at Ministry of External Affair, New Delhi from July 2021 to March 2023; and as Ambassador of India to the Syrian Arab Republic from March 2019 to June 2021.

His earlier overseas diplomatic assignments include as First Secretary (Political, Information and Education) at Embassy of India, Riyadh from September 2014 to February 2019; Second Secretary (Consular, Commercial, Political) and Head of Chancery at Embassy of India, Tunis from August 2011 to August 2014; Second Secretary (Information and Culture) at Embassy of India, Riyadh from October 2007 to July 2011; and Consul (Education, Administration and Haj) at Consulate General of India, Jeddah from September 2002 to November 2005.
